Weometry Gars

weometry gars (no relation) is a top-down twin-stick shooter developed in 48 hours for the 2023 GMTK Jam, developed by me and some friends.

the theme of this jam was ‘roles reversed’; this theme is reflected in the gameplay, where you and a group of enemies take turns being on the offense and the defense; you fire a set of bullets, then the enemies get to fire the exact same set of bullets back (that you have to dodge). it can get kinda hectic really quickly.

this was one of me and my friend’s first times working in godot, and it probably shows. while gdscript was easy enough to pick up, figuring out how to structure the project was a challenge, as we hadn’t had much experience with godot’s unique composition-based and event/listener heavy model (though in hindsight, its easy to see what the strengths of it are).
